Noatum Logistics transforms warehousing operations with Blue Yonder and ModernLogic

公司

Noatum Logistics is a global integrated logistics company offering customized, value-added solutions across a broad spectrum of services, including freight management, international supply chain management, contract logistics, project logistics, and customs and trade compliance. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi and with over 2,600 professionals, the company provides end-to-end worldwide supply chain support.

企業挑戰

Noatum Logistics needed to swiftly expand and innovate its logistics operations in the UK to capitalize on opportunities presented by the growth of e-commerce in the wake of the pandemic. Its old-fashioned warehouse was operated on a manual paper-based system which was very labor-intensive. There was no warehouse management system and this often led to manual errors.

解決方案

Noatum Logistics decided to modernize and construct two new warehouses to capitalize on market demands. The first major step was the construction of a 380,000 square-foot warehouse in London Medway. This included the implementation of advanced systems such as conveyors, pick-to-light technology, and robotics. Noatum adopted Blue Yonder’s warehouse management system (WMS) through Blue Yonder partner ModernLogic. Soon after, Noatum Logistics opened another new 530,000 square feet warehouse in Biggleswade to serve a new retail customer, which also required advanced technological integration. The deployment of WMS has led to greater capacity handling and a reduced dependency on manual labor.

“The successful launch of two new UK warehouses, fully equipped with advanced technologies, has enabled us to enhance efficiency significantly. By addressing labor availability challenges through automation, we’ve been able to support our staff effectively and increase overall productivity. This not only met the accelerated demands of our existing customers but also attracted new clients by offering localized UK distribution and a superior level of service.”

Achieving operational excellence and customer satisfaction through automation

To meet its growing customer demand, Noatum Logistics built two new state-of-the-art UK warehouses. Blue Yonder partner, ModernLogic, supported the company through the configuration of Blue Yonder Warehouse Management across both operations with seamless integration to the sites’ automation facilities.

A key element of this collaboration was reviewing operational processes to enhance team efficiency. Recognizing the challenges of labor availability and high costs in the UK, the integration of automation became a priority. Conveyors and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) were included in the scope to support staff in their day-to-day tasks, ultimately enabling Noatum Logistics to offer a best-in-class operation for its customers.

ModernLogic configured Blue Yonder Warehouse Management to work seamlessly with conveyors, inline weighing systems, labeling, and printing solutions. The Blue Yonder partner also helped with the implementation of Locus Robotics for put-away and picking operations directly from the conveyors.

The successful launch of both the London Medway and Biggleswade warehouses, fully equipped with advanced technologies, allowed Noatum Logistics to enhance efficiency significantly. The integration of automation and a robust WMS led to improvements in operational capacity handling and reduced dependency on manual labor.

By addressing labor availability challenges through automation, Noatum Logistics was able to support its staff effectively and increase overall productivity. This not only met the accelerated demands of its online customers but also attracted new clients and strengthened existing relationships by offering localized UK distribution and a superior level of service.

By successfully implementing advanced Blue Yonder Warehouse Management solutions and automation technologies, ModernLogic has helped transform Noatum Logistics’ operations to meet the evolving demands of a rapidly changing market.
